I am still an AI skeptic.
But, no matter what your opinion on AI coding is...
You should still work with it if you want to have a job 3 years from now.
Nope, developers are not getting replaced.
Not in 50 years.
But frontend-only or full-stack jobs... The ones that only consist of building simple CRUD apps are slowly being made obsolete by AI.
Here’s a simple way for any software engineers to become more marketable.
Add AI to whatever you do.
And another little secret I learned the hard way back in my Angular days.
You can't, and should NOT fight the market.
For those who don’t know, the first JS framework I learned was Angular. Then the world switched to React.
I didn’t like React. But every company I wanted to work for was using it.
So, I learned React.
Right now the market is screaming AI. Then give it AI.
Of course, “learn AI” doesn’t mean you should give up on your fundamentals.
Or that you should ignore Software Engineering best practices.
Quite the opposite.
You should polish those skills to the max.
Because the output you get from coding with AI is exactly proportional to your traditional software engineering knowledge!
Which is why Bogdan and I will be adding an “AI fluency” test to our technical assessment in the next couple of days.
Ohhh… And by the way, is anyone in their company using Open Spec?
Or anything similar?
