"If you want the best, you must become the best."

Literal words from Bogdan.

We were having the usual morning coffee, looking at what's next for our students. How can we help them even better in these stormy times.

The tech sector is not having its best moment.

Layoffs are still fresh.

Hiring is picking up, but there are many people in the market.

And AI is around the corner, promising to automate everything behind us.

Mmmm….

With such news, I am not surprised to see many developers fall into fear and desperation.

Others fall into arrogance and pretend to ignore what’s happening.

But fear is never a good thing.

Fear paralyzes you. It kills your creativity.

It makes you take less risks.

So, if you feel like that, let’s get you a bit unstuck.

The first thing we need is a change in perspective. The software world is changing faster than ever. New tools are entering the landscape, and our job will be completely different in 5 years.

But, if you are smart and focused, you can adapt.

Maybe you will have to learn new tools and even some AI stuff (like how to integrate into software products. Hint: it is just another backend).

Whatever it is, you will make it.

Think about the first line of JavaScript you wrote.

Or the first time you saw a Senior developer in action.

I don’t know about you, but I used to believe this is harder than rocket science. I thought I would never make it.

But in the end, with enough effort, I did make it.

So trust your instincts and don’t give in to paralysis.

Take action on something every single day. Maybe it is learning a new data structure, learning a new design pattern, or playing with some AI stuff to see how it works.

I do advise you to have a structured plan and routine in place. If you want us to help you with that (and much more), check our SE Mastery program and see if you qualify. <https://www.theseniordev.com/apply>

Regardless, get busy.

And don’t think so much about what will happen 10 years from now. Nobody knows. And why not deal with things as they come.

As Bogdan mentioned, focus on becoming.

The being will take of itself.

That’s all for today,

Take care, Dragos

P.S. Oh, between all this, it is such a beautiful day here in Berlin. I happen to live a few minutes away from a small park. That’s where I go when I feel blue. I look at that sky and the clouds and all that, and among that beauty, I remind myself that everything is temporary. No matter how fast you run, take a moment to realize the beauty around you. And get away from that computer screen from time to time. You might be a developer, but you are not a robot. And be bad this weekend :)
