Imagine the person you love the most in your life gets hurt.
They need to get to a hospital fast or they will die.
What do you do?
Simple.
You get into the car and you drive to the hospital!
But, as you start driving you realize a weird smell in the car…
Do you stop and change the oil?
No.
You keep on driving.
Let's go on... Halfway to the hospital, you realize your tires are worn off.
Do you stop and change the tires?
No.
You keep on driving.
You are almost there, but you are tired. You pass by a nice restaurant…
Do you stop and have breakfast?
No... You keep on driving.
Sound like an extreme example? It might be.
My goal here is not to comfort you.
Is to help you change. And change is always painful.
Can you see how all your excuses disappear when your goal is important enough?
Well, I got bad news...
The person you love the most does exist. And they are suffering.
That person is YOU.
Future you.
The future you that won’t happen...
Because the current you was busy changing tires instead of driving to the hospital.
But, Dragos, don’t be so dramatic, I am making progress.
Sure.
So is everyone else.
The problem with "progress" is when it becomes a goal itself.
It never was.
Progress is a means to an end. A better question would be…
Are you making enough progress?
And are you making the right kind of progress?
If your answer is no, then you’ve got some work to do.
Because future you is begging you to take action. But they can’t travel back in time and pull you from the distractions. From the procrastination and the postponing.
They can only whisper…
Help me!
Kill your excuses, before they kill you.
Take care, Dragos
p.S. If you want to see where "future you" is going, do the following. Check your calendar for last week, your screen time, and your bank account. You will go where your time, attention, and money goes.
p.S. Sometimes all you need is a direction, other times feedback or accountability is the key, or talking to someone that has been through the journey already. January has been extremely busy, we are opening spots for February already.
