money is not the answer

Many developers want to join our programs.

But they don't.

Not because they don’t believe in our claims.

Most do.

The funny part is that most of them have the money to afford it. But they still don't take that step.

The human mind.

Our brains know the value of money when we have it in our pockets. We know what it can buy us. Food, clothes, a car, a home… etc.

But we don’t know the value of education.

We might try to guess it.

But still, a training program is not like a car. Or an expensive vacation. You can’t touch it, or feel it. And it will give you results later on.

But can money buy you a promotion?

Can they buy you top-notch skills? Can they buy you confidence?

Not really.

The only thing money gives you is a feeling of safety.

As humans, we are addicted to safety. It is our prehistoric brain. We assume the worst will happen so we hold onto our chips.

Back in our cavern days, this was a good idea.

Today… not so much.

First, because an addiction to safety leads you to miss out on opportunities.

Second, given how things are, the only real safety you have is what is on your head. Your skills. Your ability to provide value.

The currency can go down. Inflation can eat your savings. Any kind of asset you invest in (crypto, houses, etc) can depreciate. Or it can be taxed and taken away from you.

But your skills?

They stay with you no matter how the economy goes. No matter where you go. No matter how much money you have in the bank.

I almost went broke when I started theSeniorDev. I lived off my savings. Bought a bunch of different programs and books to teach myself how to do it.

So I left a six-figure job to live like a student. And I didn’t care.

I knew the skills I would get from building this were worth a lot more than the money I spent. Did all my investments in myself pay off? Not really.

The ones that didn’t taught me how to buy better. But the obese that did, got my skills to a whole new level
