I didn’t “visualize” my way out of the underpaid overworked junior developer.
I didn’t get to Senior Developer by manifestation.
I did it with hard work.
With hundreds of hours in front of a 13-inch screen.
Writing code. Deleting it. Writing it again. Looking at the docs. Looking back at the code. Just like Michelangelo sculpted David out of stone. Millimeter by milimeter. Line of code after line of code.
I wish I could tell you hard work was enough. And that if you work hard enough, you will also get there.
Part of that is true.
Part of it is not.
Hard work plays a role. But is only your ticket to the game. It is not a guarantee. If I got where I am not faster is because I always looked for “unfair” advantages.
From the people I knew and knew about me.
To my daily routine.
And even my typing speed.
Something I worked on for years by the way. I knew it would give me a huge advantage even if most developers around me didn’t care.
Same with my skills.
I was the only front-end developer to move to the server side when the opportunity came along in my team.
Same with my personal brand.
While most developers took their jobs for granted, I was obsessed with my employability. I would ask myself “What would happen if you got fired tomorrow?”...
And built up my plan from there.
The result?
Well, I am not Steve Jobs or Ellon Musk.
Actually pretty far away from those people. But as a kid who grew up in a tiny village in Romania whose plan was to finish a degree and get a good job, I did pretty well so far.
There’s still a long way to go.
I am confident that I will get there. Not because of destiny or faith. But because I know whatever happens I will rise above it.
If I don’t know something I will learn it.
I will seek the knowledge. I will ask for advice. I will get mentors. I will put in place a plan. And I will get there.
How about you?
If you’ve been reading these emails so far chances are you are somehow ambitious.
Maybe you want to have more confidence in your skills, maybe you want a better title, or you want to make more money. Or simply to put in place the skills to stay relevant in the current market safe from layoffs and automation.
Regardless, we might be able to help.
The best way to find out is for you to get out of your comfort zone and apply for a chat with me. The guy behind these emails might actually be able to help you get to the next level in your developer career. And life.
We are closing spots for October but still taking calls.
Book a chat with me here <https://www.theseniordev.com/apply> and let’s talk :)
No obligation, no sales pitch. If I am able to help you, I will let you know.
If not, we stay friends. Just apply here <https://www.theseniordev.com/apply> and see for yourself.
Have a lovely Monday!
Take care, Dragos
