- Pull requests are 14k lines long, and you won’t be able to review them without an AI-powered assistant. You spend more time in meetings than writing or reading code.

- When you are not in meetings or ideating, you are learning new things. You spend around 30% of your day learning new skills. And you get paid for it.

- More “software developers” are needed than ever. Job openings can not be filled.

- Electrification has connected new devices to the internet, from electric cars to smart homes. Your software gets deployed to more and more devices.

We cannot predict the future, but I guess 80% of what you’ve read above will happen in the next 10 to 20 years.

The good news is that software developers have a bright future.

The bad news is that if we want to stick around, we must adapt to these changes.

A good rule of thumb is that the more you have to think daily, the safer your future will be.

If you spend your time fixing legacy or pushing dummy code, you might consider switching jobs. Same if you are limited to one technology or framework.

The future is full-stack.
