After a long trip around the globe, I am back!

Being so far from home made me realize one big thing I forgot…

That I love being a developer!

Because it doesn’t matter if I am in Berlin, Tokyo, or New York. As soon as I pull out my laptop, I can code! I can build stuff.

And I can earn a living!

The best part?

If I get a remote job in a high-income country, like the USA, I can live like a king by moving to a lower-income country.

And the funny thing?

You don’t even need a degree for this thing. You only need a strong work ethic and a bit of curiosity. And a comfortable chair!

I studied Aerospace Engineering.

Unless you are a trained engineer, you won’t get your hands on an airplane. A developer instead will only have to pass a few technical interviews.

Yes, if you don’t know how to sell yourself you won’t even get those interviews.

And technical interviews are only getting harder and harder. But it still doesn’t compare to 4 years of university degrees that turn out to be useless as soon as you hit the job market.

But Dragos what about the layoffs? And what about AI?

Companies don’t need so many developers anymore…

That my friend is a bunch of BS.

Look around you.

Are you opening your home with a fingerprint? Or a retinal scan? Are you still driving your car? What about your paperwork?

And let’s not talk about going to the hospital.

Why not have those blood analysis results in an app?

The truth is, despite how much software we create, there is a lot more to be made. The more software we build, the more we need.

We need more developers than ever.

What we don’t need is a bunch of entitled kids demanding six-figure salaries just because they can code some React.

If that’s you, you might need to re-think your strategy.

But, if you like technology at least a bit and are not afraid of hard work, you have great chances for success.

Now if you really want to skyrocket your prospects in this field, the best way is by learning from pros in this field.
